No one needs to walk the cancer journey alone, this we emphasize to all our guests. Biweekly support sessions are held where all patients and their caregivers express their feelings, fears, and burdens with one another and the patient navigator.
CCF hosts meetings facilitated by trained social workers, cancer survivors and oncologists who give health cancer education sessions on various subjects as experienced by patients during their course of treatment. The sessions are very engaging and fun (refreshing and healing) which helps the patients often divert their minds away from the cancer burden they bear.
The Haven Hostel is also equipped with a recreational living area space with T.V, a Mini library (cancer coping related materials) and indoor games like a pool table, playing cards, etc.
Hosting each session averagely costs CCF 139 dollars (514,000 Uganda Shillings) and it covers the facilitator’s allowance and refreshments served during the meeting.
